After loads of fantastic molten chalk pictures online, we see decided we had to make one! You are all over the Internet at the moment and I usually don’t do things everybody’s doing, but I couldn’t resist this one!
It was so much fun make and so easy! The result is incredibly effective, and I love it! It is fantastic for a room illumination (especially a children’s room or nursery!) and your friends will love you always if it’s them as a gift to give!
Here’s how to do your own…
Step 1: Get a canvas, the size is up to you… We a for our size of an A4 used, but soon a larger will do!
Step 2 crayons… have enough wax crayons with canvas to cover, or at least most of it to cover. If not the entire width covers you (us emergency) make sure to place the crayons at equal distance on each side. The construction is, of course, the wax crayons really doesn’t matter, but we all know what looks best to make… Fabric glue or a hot glue gun, glue your crayon marks on the canvas.
Step 3 Turn your hair dryer! You move it over the crayons slowly, put it on its highest heat and slowest blow, if possible. It will not be long, till they start melting, you can through the use of various settings your hair dryer, for example to create different looks; a cool heat melts slower which means the wax crayon marks that that the canvas what dripping already has set, it means that the top molten wax layer new on it make a bulky effect. A high heat and soon blow is a ‘splashed’ look. You really need to play and decide what you want. I used the hottest temperature and slowest blow.
Step 4 hold you until your satisfied with the results!
When we bought our canvas for the crayon picture, it was cheaper to buy a pack of four… so we have. Which meant that we had to find other ways to consume the canvas. Heres what we did…
Appliqued fabric apple tree:
Simply choose your fabric, cut them from the stem and leaf forms and to make! Make sure that you because as soon as you start the material in a form / pattern that you arrange before gluing, it’s back! (Note the bark mark ings on the hull… made by glue on top of the fabric to.) Nail on some small red gems apples to make and there have it! Isn’t it nice?
